A circumzenithal arc [Leeds, 28 Oct 2002; FinePix4800Z]

An autumn display of a circumzenithal arc, seen from our back garden. The sun is at the bottom of this picture, which is a near-vertical view. Note the rainbow colours.

These arcs curve away from the sun, and unlike halos (with which they are sometimes seen) are never complete circles.
