Total Solar Eclipse 29 March 2006

Introduction

[Map of Southern Turkey]

Southern Turkey [Reprinted from NASA's Total Solar Eclipse of 2006 March 29, Espenak and Anderson 2004]

The above map shows the eclipse path through southern Turkey, with Hacibektas highlighted at top right. The town was very close to the line of central totality, and we had a superb view from the top of a nearby hill which appeared to be part of a new public park, with statues and various refreshment and entertainment facilities.
